Arcadia Hillside Residence

Conditions, Decisions, and Value

Set into a wooded hillside in the Arcadia area of northeast Oklahoma City, the project required a large residence to respond carefully to significant grade change and expansive views. The home is organized around a substantial walkout basement that anchors the structure to the slope while allowing the primary living spaces to open outward and downward. At the rear, a double-height façade connects a series of multi-level entertainment spaces that form the social heart of the house. In extending these spaces to a pool deck and shaded outdoor rooms, the project reveals how elevation, section, and landscape can work together to create a home oriented as much to its setting as to its interior life.
