A new sushi and omakase experience within Oklahoma City’s Wheeler District - Set to open in 2023.

The literal translation of Sushi-ya is a “sushi shop” or a restaurant that specializes in sushi; the word Izakaya is made up of three Kanji characters (居酒屋) that translate to “Stay-Drink-Shop” or a communal place to gather to drink and snack together.

AKAI is delighted to bring the people of Oklahoma together to experience something that’s unique and adventurous, ranging from the formality of Omakase to the fun of an Izakaya. Our welcoming and exciting new space in the Wheeler District will serve authentic sushi made with freshly-sourced ingredients and an upscale take on modern Japanese cuisine favorites. AKAI’s bar will pour from hard-to-find Japanese Whiskies, an extensive selection of sake and a well-curated wine list. We are humbled and overjoyed for the opportunity to bring 5 star hospitality, service and quality to the Oklahoma sushi scene. So get ready to grab a seat and settle in for a new culinary experience, OKC.
